SECTION 02102 -CLEARING, GRUBBING AND TOPSOIL STRIPPING • PART1-GENERAL 1.01 Description This work shall consist of clearing, grubbing, removing and disposing of all vege- -- tation and debris within the limits of construction, except objects that are desig-• Hated to remain or are to be removed in accordance with other sections of these Specifications. This work shall also include the preservation and protection of all ,.. vegetation and objects designated to remain. This work shall also consist of stripping and stockpiling topsoil as specified. '-~ PART 2 -PRODUCTS -- PART 3 -EXECUTION 3.01 Preparation ~- The Contractor shall locate the limits of construction for each item to be constructed and shall limit his clearing and grubbing activities to this area. ~~ 3.02 General • The area within the limits of construction shall be cleared and grubbed of all sur-• face objects, trees, stumps, brush, vines, hedgerows, fences, foundations, masonry. and other obstructions not designated to remain. The Contractor shall not damage trees, shrubs, vegetation, fences, structures or other items outside the construction limits. •- 3.03 Topsoil Handling A. Stripping The area within the limits of construction shall be stripped of topsoil to the depth indicated by the Test Hole Logs but in no case shall this depth be less than twelve (12") inches. Topsoil is to be stripped after all clearing and grubbing operations have been completed. B. Stockpiling The topsoil, after being removed, shall be immediately redistributed to en ' area that has been prepared for topsoil or shall be stockpiled in the area designated: "Topso^ Storage Area". StockpIled topsoil shall be placed in the designated area at a slope no steeper than 4 horizontal to 1 vertical and shall be protected from wind and water erosion, unnecessary compaction and contaminants which may lessen the capability of the material to support -- vegetation.
