PERMIT#:P-2007-001
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: ACY
INSPECTION DATE:June 21,2019
OBSERVATIONS
This inspection was conducted as part of the Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety(Division)
normal monitoring program. The Chevron Oil Shale Research, Development and Demo Pilot is a Minerals
Prospect NOI permitted site that includes a total of 5.34 acres. The site located in the Piceance Basin.Jim
Henderson and Danny Vaughn of Chevron Shale Oil Company,A Division of Chevron USA, Inc. represented the
operator. Paul Daggett of the White River Field Office BLM and Amy Yeldell of the Division conducted the
inspection.
All affected lands have been fully reclaimed. The permit boundary is delineated by a wire exclusion fence.
Being that the site is on BLM cattle graze the adjacent lands. The Operator indicated that this fall with the
BLM's approval the fences would be removed (wood posts cut off to surface). Fence removal is the last
remaining task of the reclamation plan to be completed.Vegetation on the pads appears to be flourishing and
diverse. Little to no weeds were observed. There were no signs of erosion despite the excessively wet
conditions. The Rip-rap creek bed along the access road to the south pad even had water flowing. Overall the
site is thriving with the favorable spring conditions.
Bases on this inspection it is determined that the Operator has successfully complied with the requirements of
the Act, Rules and Regulations, and the approved Reclamation Plan, and that the entire permit area is ready to
be released from any further reclamation responsibility. If the operator submits an acreage release request
within 60 days this inspection will count as the acreage release inspection.
The Division currently holds a financial warranty in the amount of$700,000 for this site, of which only
$200,000 is required.
No problems or violations were noted during this inspection.
Responses to this inspection report should be directed to: Amy Yeldell at the Division of Reclamation, Mining
and Safety, 1313 Sherman St., Room 215, Denver, CO 80203. Direct contact can be made by phone at 303-866-
3567 Ext 8183 or via email at amy.yeldell@state.co.us
Inspection Contact Address
Amy Barnhill
Chevron Shale Oil Company, a division of Chevron USA, Inc.
6301 Deauville Blvd.
Grand Junction, CO 81506
Enclosure
CC:
Travis Marshall, Senior EPS, Grand Junction DRMS
Paul Daggett, White River Field Office, BLM
Page 2 of 5
