PERMIT#:P-2007-001
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS:ACY
INSPECTION DATE:May 24,2022
OBSERVATIONS
This inspection was conducted as part of the Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety(Division)
normal monitoring program. The Chevron Oil Shale Research, Development and Demo Pilot is a Minerals
Prospect NOI permitted site that includes a total of 5.34 acres. The site located in the Piceance Basin. Jim
Henderson and Andy Olson with Chevron Shale Oil Company, a Division of Chevron USA, Inc. represented
the operator. James Roberts of the White River Field Office BLM and Amy Yeldell of the Division conducted
the inspection.
All affected lands have been fully reclaimed. The wire fence delineating the permit boundary has been removed
(approx. 2 yrs ago). Being that the site is on BLM, cattle and horses now graze the reclaimed lands.
Overall vegetation has been grazed heavily. This has led to a decrease in foliar cover of grasses. However
overall plant cover and density is still adequate. The shrubs have continued to establish and are now becoming
more pronounced. Despite grazing the pads still appear to be stable with a diverse blend of desirable and
sustainable species. Little to no weeds were observed. No excessive erosion or sedimentation was observed and
all stomwater BMPs are functional.
Bases on this inspection it is determined that the Operator has successfully complied with the requirements of
the Act, Rules and Regulations, and the approved Reclamation Plan. The entire permit area is ready to be
released from any further reclamation responsibility. If the operator submits a surety release request within 60
days this inspection will count as the release inspection. *Note that a separate release/termination request to
BLM will also be required.
The Division currently holds a financial warranty in the amount of$700,000 for this site, of which only
$200,000 is required.
No problems or violations were noted during this inspection.
Responses to this inspection report should be directed to: Amy Yeldell at the Division of Reclamation, Mining
and Safety, Rm 215, 1001 E 62nd Ave, Denver, CO 80216. Direct contact can be made by phone at 303-866-
3567 Ext 8183 or via email at amy.yeldell@state.co.us
Inspection Contact Address
Jim Henderson
Chevron Shale Oil Company, a division of Chevron USA, Inc.
760 Horizon Dr, Ste 401
Grand Junction, CO 81506
CC:
James Roberts,
White River Field Office, BLM
220 E Market St,
Meeker, CO 81641
EC: Travis Marshall, Senior EPS, Grand Junction DRMS
Page 2 of 5
