6 .4. 5 Exhibit E
Reclamation Plan
The mine boundary includes bedrock outcrops, rocky terrain and isolated areas of
rangeland. Areas vegetated prior to mining will be reclaimed to rangeland. Bedrock
outcrop areas will not be vegetated but will remain as bedrock surface benches.
Because the mine is primarily bedrock outcrops, only those areas supporting
vegetation with overburden or plant support material prior to mining will be reclaimed as
rangeland. Whenever possible, final grade will blend with surrounding topography.
Highwall benches will be constructed concurrently with mining. Reclamation will be
performed in accordance with the approved 1997 Fremont Soil Conservation District
recommendation. The salvaged sediment or plant growth material will be stockpiled for
use in final reclamation when it will be mixed with rock fines, placed on the exposed
surface to an average depth of seven inches. The following seed mix will be broadcast
and mulched with clean straw using 4,000 Ibs/acre. Revegetation will occur
concurrently with mining when necessary.
Topsoil stockpiles are located in the amended area (7.36 acres), along the south
boundary of the permit area. Stockpiles will be compacted and revegetated with seed
mix in order to minimize effects of erosion. During reclamation, the topsoil will be
distributed across the dimensional stone staging area and production area,
approximately 10 acres.
Table 1:Reclamation Seed Mix recommended by US Soil Conservation Service
Broadcast Rate
Grass Species lbs is/ac
Blue grama 2.4
Sideoats grama 4.5
Western wheatgrass 8.0
Indian ricegrass 1 2.5
Any temporary mining structures such as stormwater BMPs or perimeter safety
berms will be removed during reclamation. The interior haul road will not be reclaimed.
The Fremont County Weed Control Officer contacted a weed inspection on
November 17, 2011. The inspection report and recommended weed management plan
is provided herein.
