6.4.5 Reclamation Plan and Schedule
Since the proposed amendment is to expand the mining operation in all
directions from the current site reclamation will not take place until Phase
III of the mining plan is completed. As each phase is completed the slopes
will begin at highest existing ground level in ear area and extend down to the
mining floor at a slope of 3H:IV. Once a slope is completed it will have the
stockpiled topsoil placed on the slope and seeding will be done.
Phase III will have slopes on the east wall once mining is completed to the
east boundary.
Phase IV will have slopes on the east and north that will be reclaimed when
the mining is completed to those boundaries.
When Phase V is completed the north and west slopes will be reclaimed to
those respective boundaries.
Phase VI will have slopes on the west side other than the area where the
existing draw is in the land.
Phase VU will daylight to the south leaving only a small portion of slope to
be reclaimed on the east and west sides of this Phase.
The mining plan for the expanded area is estimated to begin in late 2022 in
Phase III and is estimated to take approximately 3 years to complete making
the first reclamation on the slopes to begin in late 2024. However as each
Phase in both the existing pit and the amended area are completed the floor
of the pit will be leveled and sloped for drainage. The land has a natural
draw on the west side of the mining area and all drainage will be sloped to
that side.
The entire mining area will be seeded with native grasses for pastureland
once the mine is completed.
Per the original permitting process the road constructed across the Pickering
Family LLC property from County Road 61 to the gravel pit will be a
permanent access to the 100 acre parcel also owned by Pickering Family
LLC. This road will not be reclaimed upon completion of the gravel pit
operation.
