Exhibit B
Site description of Placer Mine Project in
Limited disturbance permit (110(2))
April7, 2022
of the
Pot o Gold Ranch Placer Mine Project
This project is a combination mining and reclamation project of the Wilson
Placer mine tailings of the 1930s. This segment of the larger project proposes to
isolate a 9.5 acre block of pre-disturbed placer mined gravels, segregate growth
media where available, re-wash the gravels and reclaim the block into the
surrounding pasture and eventually redevelop the riparian environment. There is a
minor amount of top soil (localized) while the majority of the soil in the deposit is the
orange - brown mineral soil often seen in placer deposits.
The original area was mined as a gold placer but never was reclaimed as was
common for the time. This left the stream in a ditch surrounded by barren piles of
sand and gravel and very limited vegetation. The gravels may be up to 6 ft deep or as
shallow as a few inches. The growth media in the undisturbed ground can be up to 1
feet thick. Below that, in the undisturbed ground, can be found up to 3 feet of a
somewhat loamy gravel. Underlying that is highly altered granite (grus) sand. In the
disturbed ground, there will be small isolated vestiges of growth media that survived
the previous mining.
The only permanent man-made structures near the project is a segment of BLM
fence on the southern side (as marked) and Albino road (county 32) on the north
side of the property.
On the south side of the proposed mine, is the North Fork of Park Gulch. Up stream
of the site is the Cline reservoir and the reservoir that is the beginning of the Slater
ditch. Downstream is only Tarryall creek. Flow rates out of Como in Tarryall creek are
at 15-17 CFS. However that is east of the project. No water quality data was found
found for Park Gulch.
North fork of Park Gulch is an ephemeral stream in a trench. The stream will not be
affected.
