The Texas Creek Pit is a 110c permitted site that includes a total of 3.2 permitted
acres. The site is located 22 miles south of Rangely, Colorado and is accessed from Rio Blanco County Road
109. The pit is on property owned by the Bureau of Land Management, no representative was present for the
inspection. No additional excavation or
processing of material will take place. Topsoil is stockpiled at the top of the highwall on the south side of the
pit.No processing equipment, structures, fuel, etc. are stored on site. There are a few small remaining stockpiles
that need to be utilized before final reclamation can occur site wide.
The creek which is adjacent to pit on east side, has previously washed out. This "blow out"has resulted in
debris being deposited all over. Some clean out material has been imported and appears to be rich topsoil
material well suited for reclamation. Left over river cobbled used for gabion baskets also remains on site.
Overall the site is kept in good working order. Little to no weeds were observed.Native vegetation has
volunteered in some areas. No problems or violations were noted during this inspection.
Responses to this inspection report should be directed to: Amy Yeldell at the Division of Reclamation, Mining
and Safety, Room 215, 1001 E 62nd Ave, Denver, CO 80216.
