Dear Ms. Shaeffer: The Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, Section 118, Paragraph 3, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on May 6, 2022, an application to revise coal mining operations at the Trapper Mine was considered complete for the purposes of filing. All review and comment periods as provided in the Act and the Regulations initiate from this date of filing. The revision extends the I-Pit Middle pit to the west of the current open pit. In L-Pit the strike line cuts at the southern end of the pit area will progress faster than originally planned in 2022. The L Pit mining limits have been extended to the north along with H-Seam overburden removal. The applicant is not proposing additional surface disturbance outside of the area currently approved for disturbance. The surface coal mining operation is on land located approximately 6 miles Southwest of Craig, Colorado.
