15 <br /> 1 .2 Regulatory Framework <br /> The federal government, the State of Colorado, and Boulder County <br /> recognize that important archaeological and historical properties <br /> are valuable, non-renewable representations of our cultural <br /> heritage. A number of federal laws, regulations, executive <br /> orders and guidelines have been established that deal <br /> specifically with consideration of our cultural heritage in the <br /> planning process for Federal undertakings. The State also passed <br /> legislation pertinent to state and local undertakings as they <br /> might affect cultural resources. <br /> 1 .2. 1 Federal Regulations <br /> The mandates for compliance with the following federal statutes, <br /> orders, and policy guidance regarding cultural resources include: <br /> Antiquities Act of 1906 <br /> Historic Sites Act of 1935 <br /> Reservoir Salvage Act of 1960 <br /> National Historic Preservation Act of 1966, as amended <br /> National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 <br /> General Authorities Act of 1970 <br /> Executive Order 11593 of 1971 . This is now in NHPA. <br /> Archaeological and Historic Preservation Act of 1974 <br /> Archaeological Resources Protection Act of 1979, as amended <br /> American Indian Graves Protection and Repatriation Act, 1990 <br /> Agencies have interpreted these laws and issued regulations and <br /> policy statements to assist in compliance with these laws and <br /> orders . Among those potentially pertinent to the Dowe Flats <br /> project are: <br /> 36 M 601 - National Register of Historic Places <br /> (NRHP) <br /> 36 M 63, - Determinations of Eligibility for <br /> Inclusion in the National Register of <br /> Historic Places <br /> 36 M 800, - Protection of Historic Properties <br /> 43 M 3, - Preservation of American Antiquities <br />
