Describe proposed surface excavation or other land disturbance,including roads,pits, <br /> trenches,waste piles,drill pads and collar areas of underground workings,ponds,etc. <br /> Fourteen drill pads(14)of maximum approximate dimensions of 60ft x 60ft(3600 sq ft)will be <br /> constructed via clearing, leveling/grading as needed in the project area.The majority of drill <br /> pads will be substantially smaller.Sumps will be excavated where possible for cuttings <br /> management(details below). One(1) laydown will be located within the existing San Miguel <br /> County gravel quarry to store equipment and materials(footprint of approximately 10,OOOsq ft). <br /> The laydown will constitute no new impact, and will utilized cleared and leveled space within <br /> the quarry pit. No additional clearing/leveling will be required.The area will be used to store <br /> equipment that is not in regular use(e.g., dozer and excavator),project materials(drill rod, <br /> casing,spare parts),a water tank for project water storage,equipment trailers/storage and a <br /> porta-john during drilling. Locks on project trailers and equipment will be utilized as well as <br /> regular monitoring of the site by the project staff(operating 24hr/day). No fencing or <br /> permanent structures will be used.Specific location within the gravel pit will be coordinated <br /> with San Miguel County(SMC). <br /> Existing BLM and SMC roads and trails will be used throughout the project area wherever <br /> practicable and will require maintenance as indicated below. Existing PRIMARY roads are <br /> managed by either the BLM (part of BLM inventory)or San Miguel County. Existing road and trail <br /> improvements will constitute repair or upgrading to a minimum safe standard for 4x4 pickup <br /> trucks, and may include:grading,temporary earthen berm creation, pothole patching, re- <br /> establishment of road bed.
