ERO Resources <br />Allan's 1979 report also contains information regarding an ecological <br />• survey dons by Welsh (1957). This survey of the flora of Dinosaur <br />National Monument contains information on plant communities similar to <br />some of the types occurring on the Deserado Mine Permit Area. Other <br />regional studies mentioned by Allan include studies conducted for the <br />Federal 011 Shale Lease Tracts U -a and U -b (White River Shale 011 Project <br />1976, McKell 1977) and the threatened and endangered species inventory <br />conducted by Welsh and Neese (1979) on the Deserado Mine Permit Area. <br />• <br />• <br />Other regional data detailing vegetation type structure, composition and <br />distributional features germane to the Deserado Mine Permit Area include <br />studies conducted on Federal Prototype Oil Shale Tract C -b (C -b Shale Oil <br />Venture 1977), a regional study of phytoedaphic units occurring in the <br />Piceance Basin (Tiedeman and Terwilliger 1978), a symposium conducted on <br />the pinyon -juniper ecosystem (Gifford and Busby 1975), a symposium <br />conducted on the sagebrush ecosystem at Utah State University (Laycock, <br />Young at al. 1979) and baseline studies conducted in oil shale lands in <br />the southern Uintah Basin (Olgeirson 1980). <br />Specific literature dealing with autecological data collected in the <br />Intermountain Region has also been reviewed. Substantial information has <br />been derived and used in the preparation of this report from the following <br />professional papers: Pickford 1932, Daubenmire 1942, Costello 1944, Hull <br />at al. 1947, Robertson 1947, Hulbert 1955, Klemmendson and Smith 1964, <br />Harper at al. 1965, Harris 1967, Evans at al. 1970, Evans and Young 1970, <br />Thatcher and Hart 1974, Cable 1975, Vale 1975, Welsh et al. 1975, <br />Olgeirson 1977 and 1979 a, b and c and Welsh 1979. <br />II.F- 4 <br />
