Water Quality
Mining and reclamation operations shall comply with Colorado Department of Public Health and
Environment Colorado Discharge Permitting System (CDPS) for stormwater management. A
permit will be obtained that includes the continued updating and implementation of a site
Stormwater Management Plan designed to prevent the contact and transport of potential
contaminants to surface waters by stormwater flows.
Due to the absence of large quantities of potential pollutants on site, the mining and reclamation
operations will not affect groundwater quality on or off the site. As stated above, mining and
reclamation activities shall operate under a CDPS permit and Stormwater Management Plan.
The plan provides for regular inspections of potential contaminant areas such as mobile
equipment and fuel or lubricant storage locations. Inspections and best management practices
are incorporated into the plan to protect both surface and groundwater quality.
Carr Pit East
DBMS 112 Permit Application Page 19
