Please be as specific
as possible.
Comment/Objection Narrative
The proposed mining site poses a serious potential risk to the surrounding community which consists of both
agricultural and residential properties. The first risk is to the ground water in the area. The majority of the homes
and farms within a mile of the site are ran off of shallow wells. With our proximity to the river the water level can
be as high as 2 ft below surface. If this permit were to be approved the potential to render these homes and
farms waterless is substantial not to mention potential contamination. If the permit is approved we ask that for 6
months prior to the start of mining operations monthly monitoring and testing be done of a minimum of 6 Wells
at varying distances to adequately represent the surrounding water table.Tests should be for water depth and
quality. These tests should continue throughout the duration of the project.Should there be any negative
change mining operations should cease and reparations made. The proposed site sits between the river(water
source)and the local residents which compounds the problem and concerns.
The proposed site sits in a river valley due to its geographical properties any dust produced will fill the valley
and pose a serious health risk to the surrounding area. The geography of this location will hold the produced
dust cloud for days regardless of weather as the local residents(myself included)have seen on numerous
occasions. There are multiple families in the area with 1 or more members who have medical conditions that
this dust production could prove fatal. As well as the local livestock.
The local infrastructure can not handle the increased activity this facility would create. The roads are already
over taxed with the current traffic and in poor condition the increased truck traffic would make the roads
impassable. There are many blind driveways in this area and no way to guarantee the driver's will use caution
on the roads. This area has ample children at play that would be put at a significant risk from the increased
truck traffic.
The proposed site is home to a variety of wildlife that will be displaced including but not limited to deer, fox,
raccoons, geese, ducks, barn swallow, coyote,Turkey. The environmental impact to these animals would be
drastic. Many of these animals being displaced will become devastating to the local farmers both crops and
livestock.
In summary the proposed facility poses a severe health, safety and welfare risk to the surrounding residents.
Because of these concerns and more my fellow residents and I feel this permit should be denied
Should this permit be approved it NEEDS to have conditions with severe repercussions to provide for the safety
and welfare of the community. These conditions Need to be agreed upon by the local community(2 mile radius)
prior to issuing of the permit and strictly enforced by multiple agencies.
Permit Number*
Enter valid letter and then numbers, for example M1977999, M1999777UG or C1981201.
M2021067
Permitting Action Type
Select revision type or leave blank if comment pertains to a new permit application or NOI
I
