15
D. Size of areas to be worked: We anticipate having 2-3 acres cleared and striped ready for
mining not including the active mining area. As we have noticed the underlying geology
has numerous independent variables and it will be hard to say how much surface area
will be disturbed to produce spec material for our Redi Mix plant or 3 d party customers
with asphalt plants.
i. Timetables: We anticipate we will mine about 3-4 acres per year. Disturbance may
vary depending on material quality required for our Redi Mix plant. The top portion
of the gravel deposit is really clean. As we mine deeper the material quality goes
down. In the past we have utilized 3 different mining areas at the same time.
ii. The top 1/3 of the alluvial deposit has some organics such as roots, but generates
clean W roadbase and reject sand
iii. The middle 1/3 of material is free of roots and makes for clean material needed to
produce: 3/8" chips for sanding material, 5/8" chips for asphalt, 1" clean for redi mix.
iv. The bottom 1/3 of the deposit can only be used for 3" roadbase which is only a small
fraction of our overall sales.
E. Affected lands: The new mining area on affected lands lies within Parcel A and E BLM.
i. Average of 3" of topsoil.
ii. Overburden on the mesa can range from 3' —20'.
iii. The alluvial deposit ranges from 60'-100'
iv. The shale underneath the alluvial deposit is non usable, the closer we get to the
shale the material quality of the gravel greatly degrades.
F. The primary commodities to be produced will be: 1" clean rock, 3/8" chips, 3" roadbase,
W roadbase. The majority of these products will be used for road building, winter
sanding material and concrete production. Secondary commodities produced are: reject
sand, crusher fines and cobble. These products can be used for landscaping and backfill
G. No explosives will be used.
H. Roadways:
i. Our Current entrance is off of Highway 160. The road is 1,511' long. The road
averages 30' wide. 1,155' of it is paved and the last 356' is recycled asphalt.
ii. Sometime in the near future; possibly mid-summer, we will start using our new
access though Zyme Rock Road to the roundabout on Wilson Gulch Drive. We
will also continue with traffic through our current access as well. See Map D7.
We are still currently working with engineers and such to build the design. The
majority of the dirt along with cuts and fills are in place. It will be around 2,700'
long and 30' wide. Of the 2,700' only around 1,800' will be in the affected lands.
Parcel G,H,I all belonging to Gilleland Enterprises. This road will remain after
mining has finished allowing Gilleland Enterprises access to their commercial
property up top.
iii. There will also be a new intersection off of Zyme Rock Road to get to the bottom
of the Gilleland Enterprises properties. In the next 1-2 years. See Map D7 for
"approximate spot" of intersection leading to the bottom.
