I have lived on the hogback in Golden along HWY 93 for almost 19 years in a section of the HWY
between Iowa Drive and HWY 58.We have experienced an extreme loss of quality of life due to the heavy truck
traffic in this area. Most of the truck traffic has escalated over the years from the mining industry. I am
concerned that the State, County and City government agencies involved in this approval process have not
addressed the citizen concerns regarding the noise and pollution that have increased over the years. We
experience a lot of Jake Brake noise constantly day and night. We don't know who owns the trucks making all
of the noise and the authorities have done little to prevent this problem.Summer is the peak season and winter
is not as bad. I offered my property to be used to study the noise problem, but nobody seemed to care, and the
issue died. I suggested that the City or the State erect a flashing"No Jake Brake"sign just past Iowa Drive to
the south since this is a steep downhill area where the trucks use the engine brakes(some even use the brake
going uphill). The authorities could tackle this problem at the root, and we could all live together without a
problem. There is nothing in their application that prohibits midnight trucking runs...something that has occurred
for a number of years and caused us many sleepless nights. Our local authorities have no control over this, and
the issue went into a black hole of finger pointing as to who is responsible for the problem. This section of HWY
93 is also in very bad disrepair, full of potholes or poor attempts to repair them. The highway has not been
maintained appropriately because the governmental agencies responsible for the maintenance have neglected
to take into effect the added stress this mining truck traffic adds to the infrastructure. Every truck with a trailer
can be heard from our location as it hits the bumps in the road.We have excessive noise coming from the road
at all times of the day and night and converting this mining claim to a larger geographical area may result in
more traffic, noise and pollution destroying the quality of life that we sought when we purchased this property in
2003.Golden is growing in population and density and the negative effects of this industrial activity will cost the
citizens in quality of life compared to the economic benefits that are realized by a company that isn't even
anchored in Colorado. Based on the historical nature of these problems, I don't believe that the Acme Brick
Company nor the State,County and City authorities can be trusted to protect our rights to live in peace and
quiet.
Permit Number*
Enter valid letter and then numbers, for example M1977999, M1999777UG or C1981201.
M1976007
Permitting Action Type
Select revision type or leave blank if comment pertains to a new permit application or NOI
