I urge those who are involved in the decision-making to consider less-impactful ways to
raise revenue for the state and county and to carefully consider the long-term negative impacts of this proposal
that will reach far beyond the residents and businesses in the immediate area. Negative effects that will
inevitably come with the significant expansion that is proposed include the following:further mining scars on the
hogback and an ugly blot on the landscape for many decades;the incompatibility of this proposal with the
residential character and recreational uses of the area;the potential for decreased air quality and threat to
water resources and property values;the increased machinery, noise, traffic congestion, and threat to public
safety on SH 93 and 56th;the possible intention to transfer the lease/permit with unknown further negative
consequences for the community in the future. None of this offers a welcome entry to Golden for visitors; none
of it is kind to wildlife and their habitat or to our citizenry.
Given these negative impacts, the DRMS and Jefferson County should not be solely thinking about the
prospect of Acme being able to expand their holdings, reclaim old mine workings, and increase the value of the
property but, more importantly, about preserving the value and integrity of the larger surrounding area, and
thereby respecting and preserving the quality of life for the many citizens who call this area home.
Permit Number*
Enter valid letter and then numbers, for example M1977999, M1999777UG or C1981201.
M1976007
Permitting Action Type
Select revision type or leave blank if comment pertains to a new permit application or NOI
Permit Type
County*
Jefferson
Enter one county only
Site Name
Perm ittee/Operator Name
