The
Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety (The Division), has reviewed the above referenced reports,
received by The Division on 13 July 2021. Sediment pond inspections were conducted by Miranda Kawcak as follows:
Year Quarter Date
4 18-Nov
2019 3 26-Sep
2 18-Jun
1 26-March
2018 4 30-Oct
This report appears to be in compliance with the applicable sections of Rule 4.05.9. No maintenance items were noted
during the inspection with the exception of the weir at outfall 022. This weir is showing signs of rust, allowing water to seep
around or below it while flowing. This should be replaced. Rodent burrows were noted at ponds SHPIand SHP2,outfalls 11
and 12;as well as at outfalls 24 and 14,the 9P series of ponds. The burrows are being monitored.
None of the ponds held measureable water at the times of inspection, although a small pool in pond 9A-P1 is occasionally
noted in Q2 inspections. The ponds are generally dry and have never discharged. Sediment storage was adequate for all
ponds at time of inspection. The spoil spring(outfall 022),pools on occasion and generally only discharges in spring. The
spoil spring(Outfall 22)showed approximately 2"of water in the weir with a discharge of approximately 0.025 cfs and 0.02 cfs
as per the 18 June and 26 March inspection reports respectively.Ponds reclaimed in 2018 comprise ponds 5P-5,5P-6 and 5P-7
and the wastewater treatment pond was reclaimed in spring of 2019. Ponds P2,P3 and P4 have been designated as permanent
features as stock ponds.
With the exception of the weir at outfall 022 requiring replacement or repair, the Division has no concerns.
Best Regards,
Robin Reilley,M.S.
