Table 3. OSM Peak Particle Velocity Limits
Lower frequency limit of
measuring system (Hz f 3 dB) Maximum level(dB)
2 Hz or lower—flat response 133 peak
6 Hz or lower—flat response 129 peak
Seismic instrument(s)will be used to measure ground vibration and peak particle velocity.
Measurements will be taken at the closest significant structure(home, building, road, well, etc.).
Monitoring equipment will have an upper frequency range of 200 Hz or greater. The site will
utilize the OSM maximum peak particle velocity limits shown in Table 2. All attempts will be
made to keep peak particle velocities well below the proposed maximum allowable limits.
All blasts will be monitored with three separate monitoring units made up of a seismograph,
geophone (seismic unit), and a microphone. The locations of the units will be at the intersection
of the property line and a line between the center of the blast and the following significant
structures:
• The cluster of structures —1,000 feet south of the permit boundary along I-70.
• State Highway 119 near the outfall of Russell Gulch into the North Fork of Clear Creek.
The nearest parcels with residential structures are owned by the Young Ranch LLC, Bell Bruce
Trust, and 2056 Property Ventures LLC and are approximately 1,700 feet from nearest portion of
the quarry, the southern-most DRMS boundary.
Mitigation Plan for Complaints
1. Structure Complaints
If after blasting actives are completed, a neighbor discovers potential damage to their structures
(i.e. foundation or wall cracking, broken windows, rock falls, etc.), the neighbor should notify
the operator. A complaint may also be filed with the Colorado DRMS. An operator's
representative will typically visit the structure to start the investigation within 24 hours. Based on
the results of the initial investigation, the operator will arrange for additional data collection.
