EXHIBIT J VEGETATION INFORMATION
1. Existing Vegetation Community
The pre-mine vegetation community at the Young Ranch Resource is split between two
dominant rock outcrop heavy environments: north facing slopes of heavy evergreen forest
(Central Rocky Mountain Dry Lower Montane-Foothill Forest) and south facing slopes of dry
grass and shrubs (Southern Rocky Mountain Montane Shrubland). An additional environment—
Western North American Temperate Cliff, Scree and Rock Vegetation—is included as a result of
the CCP's existence and development. Evergreen forests are dominated by ponderosa pine,
Douglas fir, and limber pine while dry southern slopes support mountain mahogany, antelope
bitterbrush, and gambel oak. Detailed vegetation environments are presented in Appendix 2. The
site and other parts of the Young Ranch are used to graze cattle; therefore, pre-mining vegetation
will likely show grazing pressure. Figure 10 shows an aerial GoogleEarth photo that shows the
two dominant communities clearly as either forested or mostly dry scree. Figure 10 through
Figure 14 show typical pre-mine current site conditions.
Young Ranch Resource
Lewicki& Associates
December 2021 J-1
