PERMIT 4: M-2016-076
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: ECS
INSPECTION DATE: December 8, 2021
OBSERVATIONS
This was a routine monitoring inspection for the Lupton Meadows site, a 100ac 112c operation, permitted by
Bestway Concrete Company. This inspection was conducted by Eric Scott for the Division of Reclamation
Mining and Safety (DRMS). DRMS met with permittee representative Erik Vieyra at the site entrance at
approximately 10:30. The site is accessed from the west side of Weld County Road 25 approximately 1.6 miles
north of the intersection of WCR 25 and Highway 18. The required site identification sign and permit
boundary markers were observed during this inspection.
During this inspection it was noted that mining activity in the two pits east of the county road had been
completed, however, stockpiles of topsoil and overburden remain in the pits. Mr. Vierya stated these
materials were being managed and sold by a third party (Mill Iron Mining). If the slurry wall liner has passed
the SEO testing process and received approval, this area could be eligible for a partial release when the
material is removed from the pits, erosion on the pit walls repaired, and vegetation established around the
reservoir areas above the water line.
Mining activity on the west side of the site is progressing rapidly, and appears to be progressing according to
the approved mining plan at this time.
Representative photos of the current site conditions and activity have been attached to this report. No
problems were noted during this inspection.
Inspection Contact Address
Erik Vieyra
Bestway Concrete Company
301 Centennial Drive
Milliken, CO 80543
