Part 3: Material Movement and Storage <br /> 3.1 Transportation <br /> The chemicals used in the milling process will be delivered to the mine site by highway trucks. The <br /> chemicals used will be delivered to the warehouse in the town of Ouray and transported to the mill <br /> as needed in order to reduce the amount of reagents on site. Once onsite, the chemicals will be <br /> unloaded in the designated area. Currently there is a concrete apron with a sump in front of the <br /> mill filter building and an additional apron will be constructed in front of the new reagent room <br /> once it is constructed. The purpose of the pad/sump is to contain material or chemical releases or <br /> spills during the unloading of the truck. A small forklift or skid-steer will be used to unload the <br /> truck and transport the material underground into the mill. The overall process of unloading and <br /> transportation will occur as quickly as possible while maintaining safe operations. This will reduce <br /> the exposure to potential spills outside of containment. <br /> 3.2 Storage <br /> Storage of chemicals will occur in the main warehouse in the town of Ouray. Once the materials <br /> have been transported to the mill facility, they will be brought into the reagent room for use. It is <br /> anticipated that the bulk granular chemicals will come in either 50 pound bags or 2,000 pound <br /> super-sacks. The storage of either is similar in that each will ship on pallets. The liquids are <br /> anticipated to ship in either totes or drums. Following is a discussion on the storage of each <br /> chemical: <br /> 3.2. 1 Aerofloat 242 Promoter <br /> Aerofloat-242 should be stored in a cool, dry place. It should not be heated or exposed to heat <br /> above 175 degree F. <br /> Aerofloat-242 is stable. It liberates hydrogen sulfide on contact with acids or acidic material. <br /> Contact with oxidizing agents, free radical initiators, bases, amines, and chlorosulfonic acid should <br /> also be avoided. Strong mineral acids and/or strong oxidizers may cause exothermic reaction. If the <br /> Aerofloat-242 decomposes, it can produce ammonia, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, oxides of <br /> sulfur, hydrogen sulfide, phosphoric acid, oxides of phosphorus, and oxides of nitrogen. <br /> 3.2.2 Danafloat 067 <br /> Do not store below 0°C (32°F). Store in original container protected from direct sunlight in a dry, <br /> cool and well-ventilated area, away from incompatible materials. Keep container tightly closed and <br /> sealed until ready for use. Containers that have been opened must be carefully resealed and kept <br /> upright to prevent leakage. <br /> This product is stable. Under normal storage and use, no hazardous reactions will occur. <br /> Incompatible with acids.
