11 Water Quality Monitoring Plan
Groundwater and surface water quality is monitored on a regular basis in accordance with a
sampling and analysis plan, DRMS requirements, and CDPS requirements. Sample locations for
groundwater and surface water are shown on Map G-1.
The main parameters of concern in the mine water are dissolved cadmium, total iron, dissolved
lead, and dissolved zinc. Although, the permit limitations are for potentially dissolved cadmium,
total recoverable iron, potentially dissolved lead, and potentially dissolved zinc—these specific
parameter tests were not historically sampled. Historical data was used to model these parameters,
despite their corresponding test requirements stated in the permit, based on a correlation between
dissolved and potentially dissolved metal tests.
Samples are tested for a suite of metals and other ions. The surface water samples are tested for
both dissolved and selected total amounts (includes suspended material)in milligrams per liter.
Data for the past 5 quarters of surface and groundwater sampling are provided in the attached
tables.
Monitoring requirements for the permitted outfalls are included in the CDPS Permit No. CO-
0000003.
M-2012-032
Amendment 02 Exhibit U
December 2021 U-27
