of non-specific dispersed recreation. On private lands, single family homes and mining are the primary
uses. County Road 26 also known as Yankee Boy Basin Road is a popular four-wheel drive vehicle and
jeep route to the scenic Yankee Boy Basin and Mt. Sneffels Wilderness areas. This route can get very
crowded during summer with peak visitation during the month of July.
6.2 Significant Game Resources
There will be no alteration of game resources as a result of this project. Project activities are not likely to
displace game resources however there are large amounts of habitat adjacent to and inside of the permit
boundaries that game animals may utilize. Several species of game have been encountered inside of the
permit boundary. Moose and deer are particularly fond of the wetlands areas on the mine site.
6.3 Significant Non-Game Resources
There will be no alteration of marten habitat as a result of this project. Project activities are not likely to
displace marten however there are large amounts of habitat adjacent to the permit boundaries that martens
may utilize.
The effects to CRCT are expected to be insignificant because: 1) There are no known or suspected CRCT
populations in the project area or that would be influenced downstream of the project area and 2)with
proper implementation of BMP's for water quality potential impacts from stream crossings and instream
construction will minimize any potential negative effects making them discountable.
Boreal toads are rare and exist in very patchy and isolated locations in Colorado. Based on information
from the Colorado Natural Heritage Program and GMUG NF records, there are no recent documented
occurrences of boreal toad in the project area. Mining activities are primarily underground and are
unlikely to result in trampling or crushing a boreal toad.
6.4 Threatened or Endangered Species
As the mining activities will be underground, implementation of the project will not result in a
measurable effect on lynx. Similar and more remote habitat is available to lynx adjacent to the project
area. There are no anticipated cumulative effects to lynx as a result of this project.
7.
