Review Checklist for Annual Hydrology Report
Mine: Williams Fork Mines Date of review: 1 December 2021
Permit No.: C-1981-044 DRMS reviewer: R.Reilley
Report Year: 2020 Calendar Year
Submitted by: Moffat County Mining(MCM)
Date received by Division: 17 August 2021
Requirement Citation Comment
1. Hydrology Report CDRMS Section 2.05.6 of the permit requires MCM to submit the AHR
filing frequency t regulation by 30 March each year. The Division received MCM's 2020
4.05.13(4)(c) AHR on 17 August 2021.
2. Timely filing of March 30, Extension of submittal dates were requested by the operator
hydrology report Section 2.05.6 of and granted by DRMS.
the permit.
3. Filing frequency of NPDES permit Throughout 2020 filing frequency dates were not met.
NPDES Discharge CO-0034142
Monitoring Reports
4. Timely filing of Inadequate,at a minimum a correspondence to DRMS of no
NPDES permit discharge is required Filling of reports has not been timely.
Discharge CO-0034142 The Division received Q4 2020 DMR's in March of 2021, and
Monitoring Reports Q1,Q2. Q3 in July of 2021.
Three NPDES discharge points are regularly monitored,
comprised of two outfalls to the Williams Fork River(WF1, 003
and; WF2, 024),and one spoil spring. It appears from the AHR
that frequency for sampling was complied with. Point 9022
5. NPDES outfall NPDES permit (1SP),constitutes the Strip Pit spoil spring that flows
sampling frequency CO-0034142 sporadically during spring snow melt,March through June.
Table 20 indicates water year monitoring data for the spoil
spring. The spoil spring was sampled on a bi weekly basis.
Monthly sampling occurred as required for other outfalls and
chronic WET testing took place as required.
6. Parameters to be NPDES permit Annual, quarterly and monthly sampling occurred as per Table
sampled for NPDES CO-0034142 3B and Table 4 respectively at outfalls 003, 022 and 024.
reporting
7. NPDES discharge NPDES permit TDS concentrations appeared consistent with historic data, with
limitations CO-0034142 recoverable iron showing a slight upward trend within historic
ranges.
Seasonal discharge occurred at 1 SP. No recorded discharge
from any on site sediment pond occurred during 2020 as per
records received by DRMS.
The mine water discharge points Eagle Mine No 5 and 7NA
well(003 or 5D and 024 or 9P3 respectively),did not
discharge in 2020 and no active pumping has occurred since
2013. No near future discharges are expected.
The Williams Fork River points WF1 and WF2 are
monitored for filed parameters on a monthly basis.
Based on a Memorandum of Understanding between the
Division of Reclamation,Mining and Safety and the Water
Quality Control Division(WQCD),the WQCD enforces
CDPS permit conditions.
Page 1
