<br />Notice of Proposed Decision <br /> <br /> <br />The Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety has issued a proposed decision to approve <br />Bond Release Application No. 14 (SL-14) for the West Elk Mine, Permit No. C-1980-007. With <br />the approval of SL-14 Mountain Coal Company is released from phase I reclamation liability for <br />12.05 acres of disturbance, including the plugging and abandonment of 15 Mine Ventilation <br />Boreholes, 3 monitoring wells and 2 exploration holes; and the backfilling and grading of <br />associated roads and pads. The underground operation is operated by Mountain Coal Company, <br />LLC under the provisions of the Colorado Surface Coal Mining Reclamation Act of 1979. The bond <br />release application was submitted by Mountain Coal Company, LLC on March 4, 2021. The affected <br />area is located in Delta, Gunnison County, approximately 9 miles East of Paonia, Colorado. <br /> <br />Copies of the proposed decision are available for review at <br />https://dnrweblink.state.co.us/drms/search.aspx by searching C1980007 in the “Permit No” field. <br />A user guide is available to help first time users of the imaged document system and can be viewed <br />at https://drive.google.com/file/d/1l8OUdf_Mpjo3kxIHkP5hMH-w7MeBtxX7/view.. <br /> <br />Any person who has an interest which is or may be adversely affected may request an adjudicatory <br />hearing regarding this proposed decision.
