October 17, 2021 RECEIVED
Eric Scott OCT 2
Division of Minerals and Geology
1313 Sherman St. DIVISION OF RECLAMATION
Denver, Colorado 80203 MINING AND SAFETY
Dear Mr. Scott,
We are writing to you in regards to the proposed sand and gravel quarry located southwest of
the intersections of Colorado state highway 66 and Weld County Road 19.
We reside at 9268 County Road 28, Platteville, Colorado 80651. Our home is located south
and east of the proposed mine, approximately a quarter mile from the intersection of County
Roads 19 and 28. We are approximately a third of a mile south and east from the proposed
mining location.
Our interest and participation in regards to this sand and gravel mine becoming our new
neighbor is of great concern to us. We have 2 shallow domestic wells that may be affected by
the new mine. Other concerns about traffic, dust, and other issues also.
We have been looking for the required legal notification postings on the proposed mine site,
and on October 14, 2021, we saw what looked like a new blank sign along Weld County Road 28
west of the intersection of Road 19. After rummaging through the tall weeds we found what we
assume was posted on the standing empty sign. See enclosed photographs.
This does not seem adequate notification for neighbors and concerned citizens to be informed
and participate in the planning and implementation of the future mine. DMG should repost and
reset the hearing and comment dates. A more durable sign with permanent ink would be
appropriate. The remnants of the sign lack the information needed.
Thank you for your attention in this matter,
Sincerely,
Kim and John Martini
9268 County Road 28
Platteville, CO 80651
303-931-7819 1
johnimartini@hotmail.com
