AFL INDUSTRIES,INC. <br /> RIVIERA BEACH,FLORIDA <br /> SERVICE START-UP PROCEDURE PAGE 1 OF 1 <br /> MANUAL <br /> PRODUCT: GRAVITY SEPARATORS <br /> ALL MODELS <br /> GENERAL <br /> Instructions contained herein are of utmost importance to proper operation of all VTC separators. <br /> WARNING: FAILURE TO FOLLOW THE DESCRIBED PROCEDURE MAY RESULT <br /> IN IMPROPER SEPARATOR PERFORMANCE,POOR EFFLUENT QUALITY <br /> AND THE POSSIBILITY OF TUBE PLUGGING ON VERTICAL TUBE <br /> COALESCING MODELS(VTC). <br /> START-UP <br /> After the separator installation is completed and all piping and pumps are connected,and before the water stream to be separated is <br /> allowed to enter the separator: ALL OF THE SEPARATOR-CHAMBERS,INCLUDING THE EFFLUENT CHAMBER <br /> MUST BE FILLED "PRIMED" WITH CLEAN WATER. The clean water may be introduced through manways until the <br /> water level reaches the top of effluent weir. <br /> CAUTION: DO NOT FILL THE OIL TROUGHS OR OIL STORAGE(SLOP)TANKS. <br /> When the separator is primed,the waste stream may be introduced into the inlet chamber through inlet connection. <br /> NOTE: The above described separator priming procedure must always be used in cases <br /> where separator has been drained either for cleaning,maintenance or repairs. <br /> Priming will not be necessary if influent to separator is interrupted during operation and liquid level in separator remains constant. <br /> SUPERSEDES: I-O-M: 2.04.0 <br />
