September 14, 2021 C-1980-007/West Elk Mine LDS
SUPPORT FACILITIES -Rule 4.04:
Contractors with D&S Underground,of Hotchkiss CO,had begun backfilling and grading the SS2-5 pad.
It was expected that work on the pad would be complete by the end of the following day, and that they would
move on to the SS2-3 pad, and then the SS2 access road.No holes were ever drilled on the SS2-5 and SS2-3 pads,
and no other pads were ever constructed on the SS2 panel. The contractors had a dozer and an excavator working
on the pad, and were also running a water truck which was being filled from the mud-pit on the SS2-3 pad(which
had been filled by a spring that had emerged on the cut slope).
Following completion of the reclamation of the SS2 disturbances,it was expected that work will proceed
to reclaim the SS1 pads(except SS1-6,which will be left open until mining of the four Sunset Trails panels is
complete). RACS drilling of Delta CO had been contractor to plug and abandon the SS1 holes and were in the
process of mobilizing their equipment at the time of the inspection.
The mobile flare was in place on SS1-2,but was not operating at the time of the inspection.
DOCUMENTS RECEIVED
N/A
OTHER(SPECIFY)
N/A
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 3
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 1
Page 3 of 17
