Comment/Objection Narrative*
I have attached a report on the Dawson Gold Mine(M2021046)prepared by Eve Nagode, local historian and
photographer,on behalf of Fox Run Art Photography and the Arkansas Valley Conservation Coalition(AVCC).
Our organizations make a formal objection to the permit application for the Dawson Gold Mine and submit this
report as comments for your review.
The proposed mine lies within the watershed of Grape Creek. Drainage from Dawson Mountain runs through
the middle of the proposed mining facility and into an existing wash that empties into Grape Creek,2.5 miles
away.A heavy rain event could wash contaminants from the mining site into Grape Creek. Roughly one mile
downstream from this point, Grape Creek enters the Arkansas River.One-half a mile further downstream is the
City of Canon City Water Department(CCWD)water intake.
One of our typical, localized heavy rain events could wash contaminants from the mining site into Grape Creek.
This is one of the reasons we strongly oppose the mining application. We respectfully request that this permit
application be denied.
Permit Number*
Enter valid letter and then numbers, for example M122112211 or C123456789.
M2021046
Permitting Action Type
Select revision type or leave blank if comment pertains to a new permit application or NOI
Permit Type
Hard Rock
County
Fremont
Enter one county only
Site Name
Dawson Gold Mine
Perm ittee/Operator Name
Zephyr Gold USA Ltd
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Are there supporting photos, maps, or documents you wish to upload?
• Yes No
Upload Supporting Documents
Maximum of 5 files can be uploaded and each file size must be 10mb and under.
