MINING PLAN EXHIBIT D
1 . General Mining Plan
The Cerise Mine will involve the disturbance of roughly 60 acres of sand and gravel from a dryland
terrace located 1.5 miles northeast of Carbondale, CO. Roughly 53 acres of ground will be mined
over the course of the operation, the remaining 7 acres consists of facilities, berms, and other
related disturbance. Mining will be conducted using dozers, scrapers, front-end loaders, and haul
trucks. The sand and gravel will processed through crushers, screens, and a wash plant. The final
products from the Cerise Mine will consist almost entirely of specifically sized rock for use in
construction projects. Concrete may be produced on site in the future under certain conditions.
Mining will be conducted over the course of six phases. The first three phases (1A, 1 B, & 1 C) will all
have disturbance during the initial mining, and are therefore grouped (see Mining Map 1). The
maximum disturbance area throughout the mine life will be 60.0 acres, during the mining of Phase 2
(Mining Map 5). Reclamation will be concurrent with mining to keep this disturbance area limited.
Mining will take place to a maximum depth of 105 feet. Below the sand and gravel deposit is the
Eagle valley formation consisting of siltstone, shales, and evaporates. Mining is not anticipated to
ever reach the underlying geologic formations.
Mining extents are shown in Maps C-2 through C-6. The phase labelling has been maintained from
previous mining plans, but the phases will not be mined in numerical order. United reserves the
right to adapt and adjust the order in which the phases are mined. Such changes to operations will
occur as needed to facilitate the necessary safe and efficient mining and reclamation of the Cerise
Mine.
Processing equipment will be moved through the site as shown on the Mining Plan maps (C-2
through C-6).
As mining progresses through the site, reclamation will be conducted behind the mining. Highwalls
will be backfilled to the final reclaimed slopes of 3H:1V once they are mined out. This reclamation
will be conducted concurrently with mining, to minimize the ongoing disturbed area. Due to
overburden quantity limits, the east and south side of the mining area will be mined to 3H:1V, and
as such will only require topsoiling and seeding for reclamation. See Mining Maps 4-6, the
Reclamation Map, and Cross Sections.
2. Mining Timetable
Mining operations at the Cerise Mine will take at least 17 years, based on an annual production of
375,000 to 500,000 tons per year (437,000 tons per year average). This is an estimate, and the life
of the mine will vary based on market conditions.
Cerise Mine
June 2021 D_1 Lewicki&Associates
