sides of the mine. An overburden berm will be maintained along the north permit boundary as seen
on Map C-6 until time for final reclamation. This berm will provide a visual buffer between the active
mining area and neighbors north of the operation. It will be a continuation of the berm built during
the mining of Phase 1 C, and be 15 feet tall. Overburden stored in this berm will be used in final
reclamation. Most of the original topsoil berm will remain in place until final reclamation, since
topsoil stripped from most mining will be immediately used in reclamation in mined out areas. Both
the overburden and topsoil berms will be used in final reclamation to complete backfilling and
topsoiling as needed. Temporary topsoil storage within the processing area will be conducted as
need. See the mining maps for the topsoil storage areas.
4. Water Handling
No water diversions or impoundments will be needed a part of the mining operation. Water will be
used in processing and dust control, and will come from either the Basin Ditch or will be brought on
site by water trucks. Area surface water will be allowed to drain to the site, since the size of
excavation will be substantially bigger than the volume of runoff the local area will generate. No
water will be discharge from the site during mining.
5. Schedule of Operations
Consistent with the Garfield County Code, the Cerise Mine will operate 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Monday through Saturday with crushing, digging, and heavy hauling allowed from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00
pm allowing for administrative and maintenance activities to take place until 8:00 p.m. No
operations except emergency maintenance to ensure the integrity of operating equipment will take
place on Sunday.
6. Garfield County Impacts
The Garfield County land use permit has been approved by the Garfield County Board of County
Commissioners. This permit addresses the impacts the operation will have on the local citizenry.
7. Importing of Material
The pit may accept concrete materials that have been removed from existing sites in order that they
can be recycled through the plants on site. Fill material may also be accepted into the mine site. Fill
material will be spread out on the mined out pit floor and will be blended into the final landscape.
Some material may also be re-sold as construction material. None of this material can be accepted
by the Operator without certification by the deliverer that it is inert and safe.
Cerise Mine
.erne 2021 D-5 © Leµicki&Associates
