Have we not learned enough from our mistakes
of the past gold mining that has happened since the 1800's.So I have heard from Zephyr that they are bringing
jobs to Fremont County or Canon City. Really, how many people in this area have the experience they need to
fill gold mining jobs. They are probably bringing in their own people from outside the area, this is my logical
thought. How about the noise we will hear from the diesel generators that will be running 24/7 to run the mines.
I moved here for the quiet, not to listen to the noise that will be created from Zephyr mine. They say it will be a
small mine compared to Cripple Creek. So why deface the land for so little return. Why a let a foreign company
come to Colorado and deface it and take what little gold there is to leave Colorado and the USA.Zephyr
STATED more damage was caused by the development of the Dawson Ranch subdivision than the proposed
mining of Zephyr gold mine. What a weak argument. When I move I sell my home and someone else takes over
the control of the house and maintains the home. When Zephyr leaves they leave toxic tailing ponds, the
disruption of water that is moving under ground,a big hole in the ground and a possible Superfund site. The
use of Water should be enough to shut this mine down. With global warming, the lack of water for homes,
farmers, and ranchers that have a lively hood and feed us. Do we want to take that risk that the mine will not
disrupt the water flow under ground for the wells that feed the lower areas stated above for a few ounces of
gold, you cannot eat gold! Let alone if somethings happens that the water of Grape Creek and the Arkansas
River could possibly get contaminated, all tourism goes away all the way down stream to even possibly Pueblo.
Again, for Gold that will go to Canada. I will step off of my Soap Box here. Please do not approve this
Nightmare in the making.Thank You,a very concerned Citizen.
Permit Number*
Enter valid letter and then numbers, for example M122112211 or C123456789.
M2021046
Permitting Action Type
Select revision type or leave blank if comment pertains to a new permit application or NOI
Permit Type
County
Fremont
Enter one county only
