Generally,these problems stem from a readily correctable mechanical malfunction. <br /> In an effort to make these solutions more readily found,this problem-troublesh000ting guide has been compiled. <br /> A. FREE OIL IN EFFLUENT <br /> Cause Remedy <br /> 1. VTC Tubes above the water level <br /> a. Water level too low Raise Effluent Weir Plate. <br /> b. Tubes floating Check grating to be sure it is in place and is weighing <br /> down all tube packs. <br /> 2. Skimmers not removing oil Weir Plate or Pipe Skimmer edge should be at <br /> minimum 1/4" above water line. <br /> Leading edge should be just above water line. <br /> 3. Oil build-up behind sheen baffle Remove oil with manual skimmer;by siphoning;use of <br /> oil sorbents;or other means. <br /> q. Weir Plate not level Adjust for an even water"oil flow over weir. <br /> �. Excessive flow through unit Reduce influent flow rate to design rate. <br /> B. WATER BACKING UP AT INLET CHAMBER <br /> Cause Remetty <br /> 1. VTC tubes blinded <br /> a. High solids level Remove Delta-Tubes and clean. Determine source <br /> of solids and possibility of recurrence: Was it <br /> an accidental dump, a recurrent dump, or a <br /> process change? <br /> b. Algae build-up Remove Delta-Tuhes and clean. If a recurrent <br /> problem,a commercial algaecide may be required. <br /> 2. Excessive flow Reduce influent flow to within ratings. <br /> SUPERSEDES 1-O-M: 2.00-3 <br />
