Now we have a tailing mound that is
fenced in from the zinc tailings because of the pollution hazard.
Fremont County in the 1950's decided that a Uranium processing plant would be a good idea. Now the US
Government had to step in and make it a SuperFund site and the pollution from that has still not been resolved.
I've had two friends die from cancer from the underground water pollution of that site.
Now Fremont County wants to do this all over again. We don't learn our lessons very well? Our state of
Colorado has gold mine remains all over the state. Pollution that has not been resolved from them either. Now
we are opening this same problem up with Fremont County AGAIN!What will it take to get us to understand
what we are doing to our land?
Our water will end up looking like Clear Creek coming from BlackHawk and Central City and other places in the
state. They can be seen everywhere in the state. I suspect we are hoping to give something for the next
generation to try to clear up.We have had over flows from flooded mines in the state that got into streams,We
don't need that here.
We live in'live and dead timber'land where fires are often a problem to resolve due to terrain. This location will
be a nightmare to resolve a fire if started from fuels even other than the trees such as machinery and those
fuels..
Someone should think out what this new great idea really is. How many times do we need to be fooled? We got
nothing from Cotter for a mess that will never be resolved. This will just be more of the same.
Respectfully,
Chuck Starck
Permit Number*
Enter valid letter and then numbers, for example M122112211 or C123456789.
M2021046
Permitting Action Type
Select revision type or leave blank if comment pertains to a new permit application or NOI
Permit Type
County
Fremont
Enter one county only
Site Name
Dawson Gold Mine
Perm ittee/Operator Name
Zephyr Gold USA Ltd
