July 30, 2021 C-1981-022/Elk Creek Mine LDS
Inspection Topic Summary
NOTE: Y Inspected N=Not Inspected R=Comments Noted V=Violation Issued NA=Not Applicable
N - Air Resource Protection
N - Availability of Records
N - Backfill & Grading
N - Excess Spoil and Dev. The site was flown and photgraphed by Brock Bowles. Pictures were
inspected by Leigh Simmons. The weather was clear, although a haze in the air caused by smoke from wildfires
accross the western US reduced the clarity of some of the pictures.
RECLAMATION SUCCESS - Rule 4.15, Rule 3:
Reclaimed areas around the mine facilities area, including the Elk Creek channel, appeared to be stable.
The reclaimed CBM well pads and roads also appear stable, with vegetative cover visible. The reclaimed
disturbance in A -gulch also appeared to be stable, with more established vegetation. There is no sign of any
erosion on any of the reclaimed areas.
SLIDES and DAMAGE - Rule 4.12:
The pictures of B-gulch appear to show a small landslide at a rock outcrop near the head of the gulch. The
rockfall/landslide is immediately south of the CBM-9/10/12/14 pad, and perhaps 50-100' lower in elevation. The
aerial images do not suggest that the pad contributed to increased runoff down the gulch or could be linked to the
landslide.
DOCUMENTS RECEIVED
N/A
OTHER (SPECIFY)
N/A
ENFORCEMENT ACTIONS/COMPLIANCE
No enforcement actions were initiated as a result of this inspection, nor are any pending.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 2
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 0
Page 2 of 12
