The Southfield Mine was an underground mine which
the Division has revoked the bond and terminated the permit. Therefore,no mine operator remains. All bond
monies available to the Division will be utilized as needed for reclamation and maintenance activities. The
weather was cloudy and temperatures during the inspection were around seventy degrees fahrenheit.
On November 13,2018,a meeting was held between the Division and The Corley Company. During this meeting,
Dr. Corely, president of The Corley Company, informed the Division that it was best that the Division no longer
access the site on the lands owned by The Corely Company.Based upon that meeting, the Division no longer
inspects that portion of the Southfield Mine.
ROADS—Rule 4.03
Construction 4.03.1(3)/4.032(3),Drainage 4.03.1(4)/4.032(4), Surfacing and Maintenance4.03.1(5)and
(6)/4.032(5) and(6),Reclamation 4.03.1(7)/4.032(7):
The two track road off County Road 51 was inspected.Vegetation continues to establish itself along the road.No
signs of use was observed on the road.
The reclaimed road spur and access road to the NW-MW well were inspected. The road spur is established with
great vegetation and blends well with adjacent undisturbed land. The access road for the NW-MW well shows
signs of increased vegetation growth. No issues were observed.
The reclaimed substation access road shows increased vegetation establishment. No recent use on the road was
observed and has probably contributed to vegetation success along the corridor.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 1
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 2
Page 2 of 4
