Our current infrastructure does not allow for
additional Quarry trucks traveling on CC Parkway to 1-70 where they will encounter the Frei Quarry Trucks
merging all of this traffic to Highway 6.Quarry operations use vast amounts of our valuable water resources and
it must be studied how this water use could affect wells, aquifers and/or pollution to creeks and water sources.
A Quarry does not seem to me the best way to utilize our limited water sources especially when we already
have a very large quarry(Frei)in the vicinity. This Quarry would add noise pollution to the area, affect wildlife
corridors and reduce further outdoor opportunities for our residents.Additionally, outdoor activity and the influx
of tourists into our state has shown a tremendous increase since the Pandemic and they do not come to
Colorado to view Quarry sites. In my opinion an additional Quarry in a County that already suffers from a long
history of mining and pollution does not deserve this type of development. Russell Gulch is an example of the
mining industry polluting the water ways and residents must now truck in their water because of the high
mineral content making it non-potable.
I do not think we need two quarries in this area plus I am concerned that if not studied properly and in great
detail the approval may put County and State residents in a position of providing tax monies to support
infrastructure, pollution control and even clean up if the Quarry is unsuccessful.
Thank you for your consideration-Sally Shriner&Rick Lewis(same address as above).
Permit Number*
Enter valid letter and then numbers, for example M122112211 or C123456789.
M2021009
Permitting Action Type
Permit Type
Quarry
County
Gilpin
Site Name
Young Ranch Resource Quarry
Perm ittee/Operator Name
Comment or Objection
Objection
Support
General Comment
Agency Comment
