ANNUAL STATUS REPORT
TO COLORADO STATE BORAD OF LAND COMMISSIONERS
SAND GRAVEL LEASE: GL-264 (FIFTH AMENDMENT)
LOWRY RANGE
COAL CREEK (QUINCY AVE. SOUTH TO COUNTY LINE)
SCHMIDT CONSTRUCTION COMPANY
APPLICABLE YEAR: 2021
DUE DATE: JULY 15, 2021
In accordance with the requirements of Item I.A.5 of the Operation Plan, the following
information is provided as a status report for the year preceding the due date stated above. This
information updates the previous annual status report information. Any updated maps presented in
this report contain not only the information for the current year, but information for prior years as
well. If no new map is provided then there was no change in the information provided on the
previously submitted map. Thus, as conditions change, the maps are kept up to date on an annual
basis without a need to refer back to previous maps. Any maps that were not updated are so indicated
in this report so the most current map can be located for reference as needed.
DATES OF FINAL INSPECTION FOR PREPARATION OF THIS REPORT: July 7, 2020.
SUMMARY OF THE CURRENT STATUS REPORT YEAR: The 2020-2021 lease year(July
16, 2020 -July 15, 2021)mining was over and full reclamation was initiated. A good deal of grading
and backfilling has occurred in the past, but in this year little was done due to the pandemic.
STATUS REPORT FOR CURRENT YEAR
MAPS: No status map is provided this year as the status of the footprint of the operational areas did
not change. That is, no additional land was disturbed. So, for mapping purposes, last year's status
map applies.
GEOLOGIC CONDITIONS ENCOUNTERED: No unusual or unexpected geologic
conditions were encountered in the last year because there was no mining occurring.
HYDROLOGIC CONDITIONS ENCOUNTERED: In the last year the hydrologic conditions
changed considerably. Collected precipitation going into the summer of 2020 was significant, but as
the weather turned dry rather suddenly and stayed dry virtually the whole summer ponds dried out.
By Fall 2020 the site was barren and bone dry. The 2020-2021 winter ended up well above normal in
snowfall and Spring 2021 was extremely wet with nearly double the normal amount of rainfall. Yet
the ponds and puddles of the past were much smaller than usual. By July 2021 the soils where water
collects from rains were muddy for the most part with just a small amount of water.
Status report for 2021 due July 15, 2021 Page 1 of 4
