Alternate Phone Number
Used only to follow up.
Alternate Phone Extension
Connection to Operation
Select all that apply
Land Owner of affected land Structure Owner within 200' of affected land
Mineral Owner Nearby Resident
Adjacent Land Owner Concerned Citizen
Government Agency Other
DESCRIPTION OF COMMENT OR OBJECTION
(Please be as specific as possible)
Comment/Objection Narrative
1)Surprised that our largest(or second largest)private land owner would consider this action as they have
been promised thousands of water taps by Central City for future residential development. If private property
rights are a concern, they have many ways to monetize their property without resorting to the destruction of the
land.
2)We do not need two quarries so closely located in this region.Gilpin County has a long history of mining and
we have Superfund sites and a multi-million dollar water treatment plant to mitigate the years of mining activity.
understand that this would not be heavy mineral mining but I am sure that construction material mining impacts
the water and air and requires reclamation. It is not a benign use of land but rather forever alters the landscape.
3)The State demographer forecasts a slow down in growth for the Metro area meaning a reduced demand for
construction materials in the future.
4)Transportation:The trucks would most likely take the CC Parkway t o 1-70 and then Exit onto Hwy 6. Here
they will pass the Frei Quarry and add to the heavy truck traffic heading down and back to Golden. Hwy 6 is the
main artery east for Gilpin residents and for visitors coming to our two gaming cities as well as students going to
Red Rocks CC. Clear Creek Canyon Park is now a major recreation destination and Clear Creek County is
increasing work on their portion of the 65-mile Peaks to Plains Trail.
5)Wildlife impacts have to be studied closely!
6)Where will the water come from?
7)The Mineral Severance tax for construction materials is lower that that for metals. I need to research what
the rate is but that goes to the state with a small portion returned to cities and counties where employees live
and some to fund a grant program. Property and business personal property taxes have to be estimated but I'm
hoping our current financial short fall due to the pandemic will not influence a poor decision for the overall
health and future well-being of the county. If annexed, Central City would see significant financial gain
With the FAA flight paths overhead and the proposed transportation plan from the Gross Dam Expansion which
would bring thousands of logging truck trips through Gilpin County,(Gail watson Fri,Jul 16,2021)
Permit Number*
Enter valid letter and then numbers, for example M122112211 or C123456789.
M2021009
Permitting Action Type
Permit Type
