A super fund effort has been in progress along the Clear Creek watershed for several years to mitigate the negative effects mining has and continues to have on the water shed. It does not seem logical or timely to add to this issue. Traffic on both the Central City Parkway and US 6 is our second concern.The CC Parkway was not necessarily designed with heavy truck traffic in mind.The impact on the road will be cause for unexpected maintenance. Central City is already struggling to meet their bond obligations.Can they really afford additional maintenance expense? The truck traffic on US 6 already has negatively affected from the current Frei quarry.The amount of trucks has not only impacted the roadway itself but also the atmosphere and environment of a canyon that is being fostered as Open Space. Millions of dollars are being spent to develop a walkway/bikeway that will end up being a noise and polluted air experience. Creation of additional ozone is also of concern.The quality of the air while crushing rock even with a water bath will add particulates to the air. Given the high elevation with less oxygen,a significant negative impact to air quality will result.This has been documented at the Fritz Peak Observatory.
