Notice of Proposed Decision The Colorado Division of Reclama- tion,Mining and Safety has issued a Vepropd decision to approve Bond leaseose Appl€cation No. 12(SL-12) for the West Elk Mine, Permit No. C-1980-007. With the approval of SL-12, Mountain Coal Company is released from Phase I reclamation liability on a total of 22.58 acres in the Dry Pork of the Minnesota Creek area, including the plugging and abandonment of 31 MuleVent€lat€on BorehoIes(MVBs)on the E-4,-5 and -6 longwall panels,nine exploration drill holes (five of which were con- verted to MVBs)and nine monitoring wells; the backfilling and regrading of 26 drill pads,and the backfillin and regrading of seven associated road segments. The reclamation work was completed between 2016 and 2018. The underground oper- ation is operated by Mountain Coal Company, LLC under the provisions of the Colorado Surface Coal Mining Reclamation Act of 1979. The bond release application was submitted by Mountain Coal Company,LLC on December 14,2018. The affected area is located in Delta, Gunnison County, approximately 9 miles East of Paonia,Colorado.
