K4= KelleyTruckinglnc.
Earthrno\Ang Contractors
6201 McIntyre Street . Golden,Colorado 80403
Ph#(303)279-4150 Fax#(303)279-4799
Following further research into the possibility of accessing the mine at another point, other
than the existing Watkins Road, the determination was made that the only feasible point of
access to the mine will be Watkins Road south of E. 72"d. Kelley Trucking will be utilizing the City
of Aurora's ROW for Watkins Rd. South of E. 72"d Ave. in order to access the mine.
The mine is located in FEMA Flood Zone: X as shown and stated on the Adams County GIS map.
There are no Waters of the United States located on site, or are there any within one mile of
the site.
During the public comment period the Division of Water Resources submitted comments
regarding groundwater. Groundwater is not anticipated to be encountered during the
operation of the mine; therefore, operations will be a minimum of two feet above the
groundwater table. If groundwater does happen to be exposed, the exposed area will be filled
in with a minimum of two feet of cover from the elevation groundwater was encountered.
Once adequate cover has been placed the area will be delineated as a no dig zone. No water
impoundments will be needed onsite. Since there is a Stormwater Discharge Permit issued for
the site BMP's will be in place and maintained per the SWMP plan.
The Nature of the material to be mined as defined by USCS is Silty Sand and is overlain with a 0
to 12 inch layer of topsoil. The thickness of deposit to be mined, as designed, is between 0 and
32 feet. Based on previously dug test holes at the property the vertical limits of the mine will
not encounter any strata other than the material intended to be mined. All material being
excavated at the mine will be considered a primary material and there is no secondary or
incidental product. All material or strata within the design limits of the mine will be hauled
offsite for use as construction material.
In areas mining depths can be up to 32' deep. In these areas no highwalls are going to be
created. Every effort will be made to adhere to the phasing plan of the mine, but in areas of
deep cuts preventing the creation of highwalls will take precedent over the phasing. The
material will be mined in a manner that will assure the safety of employees working at the
mine.
As stated previously the progression of mining operations will be in a north to south manner
while operating with approximately 20-30 acres exposed at a time. The first cut will begin on
the north side of the proposed mine with the operation making passes across the site in an east
to west and west to east manner, moving further south with each pass.
Market conditions will ultimately dictate the timeline in which the mine operates and phases its
activity, but the intent is to have the 20-30 acre mining zone exposed at any one time. As the
operation progresses toward the limits of the 4-6 month area reclamation of the mined area
will begin, and will be conducted following the same pattern as the mining operation.
