Box 187
Craig, CO 81626
Full Relinquishment of Surface Mineable Coal Accepted
On February 2, 2021, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) received a letter from
Trapper Mining Inc (TMI), which requested the full relinquishment of the surface
mineable coal under Federal Coal Lease C0007518. Under 43 CFR 3452.1-3, the BLM
can approve a relinquishment if it determines (1) the relinquishment will not impair the
public interest, (2) any accrued rentals and royalties have been paid, and (3) the lessee has
met all the obligations under the regulations and terms of the lease.
On March 9, 2021, BLM's Little Snake Field Office (LSFO) determined that accepting the
relinquishment will not impair the public interest. The LSFO found that TMI met all of its
obligations under the terms of the lease and applicable regulations and is in compliance
with the completion of surface operations and coal reserves will be adjusted in accordance
with 43 CFR 3480. Any final surface reclamation and permanent abandonment procedures
remain subject to 43 CFR 3484.2 (b). Further, the Office of Natural Resources Revenue
(ON RR) reviewed the lease status and indicated on letter dated April 14 there are no
accrued rentals and royalties due. Therefore, pursuant to regulations found at 43 CFR
3452, the BLM accepts the full relinquishment of surface mineable coal on coal lease
C0007518 effective February 2, 2021, the date of filing of the application, including the 1,
M, Q, and R seams as to the following described lands in Moffat County, Colorado:
T5N.
