5. Revegetation Plan
Prior to seeding, the soil may be disked(where not laden with small cobble)to loosen surficial
soils. Due to the mild grade, seed can be drilled in most areas, but broadcast seeding will be
utilized where reclaimed perimeter slopes do not allow drilling. Broadcast seeding will be done
at double the drill rate.
The seed mix listed below will be used to revegetate the site with a native grass mix on all
surfaces. This seed mix was used successfully at the use at Weimer No.2 Mine(DRMS permit
M-1996-031) for revegetation of dry rangeland areas. The Weimer No. 2 Mine is located
approximately 500 feet east of the Weimer Ranches#4 Mine at a similar elevation, with similar
soil and water conditions. The Division approved the full surety release for the Weimer No. 2
Mine on January 11,2021, indicating the seed mix performed well. The seed mix recommended
for use at the Weimer No. 2 Mine would be expected to also perform well at the Weimer
Ranches#4 Mine.
Fertilizer may be added as determined by a soil test at the time of seeding. Heavy furrows will
be left in the tilled topsoil to provide moisture concentration and shade areas in order to promote
better conditions for successful vegetation establishment. Seeding will take place during the fall
following retopsoiling of slopes. Slopes will be regraded, and retopsoiled as soon as they are able
to be reclaimed and as additional mining areas become active.
Native Grass Seed Mix
Species Pounds of pure live seed per acre(drilled)
Blue grama 0.4
Indian Ricegrass 2.0
Buffalograss 12.0
Western Wheatgrass 4.0
Total 18.4
Weimer Ranches #4 C.%1—klu and Ai&"MAA
June 2021 D-2
