Introduction <br /> The Weimer Ranches#4 Mine is located approximately 1.25 miles northwest of Naturita,CO in <br /> Montrose County at an elevation of approximately 5800 feet. The Weimer Ranches#4 Mine will <br /> mine construction sand and gravel and will be limited to a 9.6-acre area;therefore,this <br /> application is for a Limited Impact I I0(c)reclamation permit. The permit boundary is shown on <br /> Map E-1. <br /> Prior to this mining effort,the site was used for rangeland. The Weimer No.2 Mine, located <br /> approximately 500 feet to the east of Weimer Ranches#4 Mine, is a gravel mining operation <br /> permitted with the Division of Reclamation,Mining,and Safety (DRMS)under identification <br /> number M-1996-031. The Weimer No.2 Mine was in operation from 1996-2021. Experience <br /> gained by the owner in operating the Weimer Gravel Pit No.2 is incorporated into this permit <br /> application and will be useful in the operation of the Weimer Ranches#4 Mine. The permittee <br /> expects no major differences in the operation of the two mines. <br /> The depth of excavation will be approximately 12 to 15 feet. Topsoil is expected to range from <br /> 0-8 inches with an average of 4 inches depth. Overburden depth is highly variable across the site <br /> and is expected to range from 0 to 30 inches in depth. The site is bordered by rangeland to the <br /> north, south,west, and east. The town of Naturita is approximately 1.25 miles to the southeast, <br /> the Hopkins Field airport(FAA-designation HPL) is 1.25 miles to the northeast, with the San <br /> Miguel River and Colorado Highway 141 located 0.5 miles to the south and the west of the Pit. <br /> Map A-I shows the general location of the Weimer Ranches#4 Mine. Currently the site is <br /> rangeland. Processed sand and gravel will be sold as construction material. <br /> The surface rights and mineral rights are owned by Weimer Ranches, LLLP who is also the <br /> Operator. <br /> The permit area will include 9.6 acres. <br /> Weimer Ranches #4 :.., k►. .,, �,;,, .. <br /> June 2021 i-I <br />
