PERMIT#:M-2019-029
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS:JPL
INSPECTION DATE:May 13,2021
OBSERVATIONS
The Borrow Site for Bennett Crossing Filing 2 Parcels 1 and 2 were inspected by Patrick Lennberg with the
Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety (Division/DRMS). The inspection was completed as part of the
Division's routine monitoring inspection program. The sites were last inspected on December 27, 2019 during
a routine inspection. Kacy Flemons with LGI Homes—Colorado LLC met me at the entrance prior to conducting
the inspection. The weather was clear.
The entrance to Parcel 1 and 2 is located at the east end of Edward Ave off of 15Y Street in Bennett, Colorado.
Each parcel is a 111(1)(b) operation permitted for 25.9 and 30 acres for the removal of borrow material to
assist in home construction purposes in the immediate area. The site is surrounded by residential and
rangeland with the post-mining land use of industrial/commercial. A mine sign was observed as required by
Rule 3.1.12.
The site was not active at the time of inspection and all mining at the sites has been complete. The sites were
mulched and seeded in Fall 2019. Vegetation appears to be growing as expected for the area. There were
some weeds volunteering into the sites but they are not acting a source to the surrounding properties. The
northern parcel Parcel 1 (M2019-029) has couple areas towards the north end of the permit where vegetation
is not growing as well as similar locations and the Division recommends inter-seeding of these areas. Although
the post-mining land use industrial/commercial the approved reclamation plan states that the parcels will be
reseeded and vegetation will be established to meet the criteria as defined in Rule 3.1.10(1).The rule states
land shall be revegetated in such a way as to establish a diverse, effective, and long-lasting vegetative cover
that is capable of self-regeneration without continued dependence on irrigation, soil amendments or fertilizer,
and is at least equal in extent of cover to the natural vegetation of the surrounding area. The Division, also,
recommends the operator perform weed management so the parcels don't become a source to surrounding
properties.
The Division evaluated the financial warranties and determined the current bond amount held by the Division
for both parcels are adequate at this time.
Photographs taken during the inspection are attached.
Please contact Patrick Lennberg (303)866-3567 ext. 8114 or email at patrick.lennberg@state.co.us if you have
any questions regarding this report.
Inspection Contact Address
Kacy Flemons
LGI Homes- Colorado, LLC
14205 SE 36th Street
Bellevue, WA 98006
cc: Jared Ebert, DRMS
ec: Kacy Flemons, LGI Homes LLC, kacy.flemons@lgihomes.com
Miles Buescher, Adams County, MBuescher@adcogov.org
Page 2 of 6
