The operation will not <br /> directly affect surface or groundwater systems. Due to the flat nature of the site, very little runoff <br /> water will be produced. Runoff from this site will be, generally un-concentrated sheet flow. <br /> Runoff will generally run towards the south over the developed cropland. Developed cropland <br /> and vegetation along with cobble soils is to capture runoff and filter any sediment. Any <br /> stockpiles not placed inside the mining pit is to have straw waddles or rock socks placed around <br /> them when not being processed and prior to projected storm water events. <br /> Man-Made Structures <br /> Land leased for proposed pit does not have any man-made structures. <br /> Haul Roads <br /> The proposed pit is located off of County Road Gg in the rural town of Fort Garland, Colorado. <br /> It is located across from multiple gravel pits and across from the counties waste water treatment <br /> plant and landfill. To access pit, trucks will use County Road Gg and Highway 159 in Fort <br /> Garland avoiding all residential areas in the rural town of Fort Garland, Colorado. <br /> Traffic Impact <br /> Existing Conditions: County Road Gg is located east off of Highway 159. Pit is located <br /> approximately %2 a mile east of Highway 159. Adjacent to two gravel pits, a Waste Water <br /> Treatment Plant, and a landfill. <br /> Access Points: Proposed pit will have one entrance off of County Road Gg. Trucks will exit out <br /> of pit onto County Road Gg heading east '/2 a mile to turn north onto Road 18 for approximately <br /> 1 mile to Highway 160. This will allow the truck drivers to avoid going through the town of Fort <br /> Garland. <br /> Traffic Levels: Proposed pit is in a rural area of the San Luis Valley located adjacent to two <br /> gravel pits, a Waste Water Treatment Plant, and a landfill. Traffic is low on County Road Gg. <br /> 2 <br />
