Compliance With Mine Plan N - Support Facilities Not On-site <br /> N -Other N - Special Categories Of Mining <br /> N -Processing Waste N -Topsoil <br /> COMMENTS <br /> This was a partial inspection by Leigh Simmons of the Division of Reclamation,Mining and Safety <br /> (Division).The weather was overcast,dry and windy,with a little snow on the ground in shady spots. The status of <br /> the Elk Creek Mine is"active"however no coal is being mined and the only activity since the last inspection was <br /> site maintenance. <br /> HYDROLOGIC BALANCE-Rule 4.05 <br /> Drainage Control 4.05.1,4.05.2,4.05.3; Siltation Structures 4.05.5,4.05.6;Discharge Structures 4.05.7,4.05.10; <br /> Diversions 4.05.4; Effluent Limits 4.05.2; Ground Water Monitoring 4.05.13; Surface Water Monitoring 4.05.13; <br /> Drainage—Acid and Toxic Materials 4.05.8;Impoundments 4.05.6,4.05.9; Stream Buffer Zones 4.05.18: <br /> The site was generally very dry for the time of year,however water had begun to flow in the Elk Creek <br /> channel. <br /> Straw wattles for sediment control had been refreshed around the site. <br /> The TC-1 and TC-2 ditches were in good order. <br /> RECLAMATION SUCCESS-Rule 4.15,Rule 3: <br /> The reclaimed Elk Creek channel appeared to be stable. The concrete repair at the downstream end of the <br /> upper section(at the inlet to the culvert)was in good condition and was preventing water from cutting around or <br /> under the culvert. The steep slopes on either side of the channel also appeared stable,with no signs of any <br /> significant surface erosion. <br /> REVEGETATION—Rule 4.15 <br /> Vegetative Cover; Timing: <br /> Reclaimed areas around the Elk Creek channel were beginning to turn green with new seasonal growth. <br /> Species from the reclamation seed mix were evident,with very few and isolated noxious weeds(mainly thistle <br /> rosettes). <br /> Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 8 <br /> Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 3 <br /> Page 2 of 6 <br />
