3.0 RESULTS
Tables 1 through 4 and Charts 1 through 4 provide a summary of the 2019 and 2020 sampling efforts
described above. Tabular compilations of raw data and summaries presented in Appendix A on Tables 5
through 12. Photographs of the evaluated areas are also presented in Appendix A. Evidence of light
grazing of the reclamation vegetation was observed at the time of the evaluations.
A total of 40 plant species were observed within the Run of Mine in 2019 (Table 6). Ground cover
within the unit (Table 2 and Chart 1) consisted of 68.9% live vegetation, 3.7% rock, 21.6% litter, and bare
ground exposure of 5.9%. Total plant cover excluding noxious weeds averaged 68.8%. Noxious weed
cover averaged 0.1% and consisted of cheatgrass (Anisantha tectorum) which is a List C noxious weed in
Colorado. The dominant taxa were western wheatgrass (Pascopyron smithii), thickspike wheatgrass
(Eiymus ianceoiatus ianceoiatus), and cicer milkvetch (Astragaius cicer) with 24.9%, 12.5%, and 12.5%
average cover, respectively. Total herbaceous production averaged 1,142 pounds per acre in 2019 while
total herbaceous production excluding noxious weeds averaged 1,141 pounds per acre (Table 3 and Chart
3). Woody plant density averaged 320 live trees, shrubs, and sub -shrubs per acre in 2019, consisting
primarily of bitterbrush (Purshia tridentate) (Table 4 and Chart 4).
A total of 46 plant species were observed within the Run of Mine in 2020. Ground cover within the
unit consisted of 51.6% live vegetation, 4.6% rock, 40.3% litter, and bare ground exposure of 4.3%. Total
plant cover (excluding noxious weeds) averaged 51.6%. Noxious weed cover averaged 0.1% and consisted
of cheatgrass. The dominant taxa were cicer milkvetch, thickspike wheatgrass, and western wheatgrass
with 15.3%, 12.6%, and 10.2% average cover, respectively. Total herbaceous production excluding
noxious weeds averaged 950.6 pounds per acre in 2020 (no noxious weeds were found in the plots).
Woody plant density averaged 331 live trees, shrubs, and sub -shrubs per acre in 2020, consisting primarily
of rubber rabbitbrush (Ericameria nauseosa) and bitterbrush.
CEDAR CREEK ASSOCIATES, Inc. 11 Bowie #1 Mine - Run of Mine - 2020
Phase III Bond Release Evaluation
