LS Factor, Hillslove-Length and Gradient <br /> The LS Factor is the slope length factor representing the effect of the slope length on erosion relative to <br /> the slope steepness. This value represents how erodible the particular slope length and steepness is <br /> relative to a 72.6 foot long and 9% steep slope unit plot. These values were unique to each parcel and <br /> were determined using the RUSLE 1.06c application with the inputs of the BR parcel lengths and slope <br /> gradient values. <br /> C Factor, Cover Management <br /> The C Factor represents the effects of plants, soil cover, soil biomass, and soil distributing activities of <br /> erosion. The C factor accounts for all surface cover including non-plant material. Data from the <br /> vegetation report in attachment D was used as inputs with in the RUSLE 1.06c application to determine <br /> the C Factor for each area. <br /> P Factor, Support Practice <br /> The P factor reflects the impact of support practices on the annual average erosion rate. A conservative <br /> value of 1 indicates that there is no consideration for deposition where as a value of 0 indicates that no <br /> sediment left the slope. In this scenario a value of 0.9 is appropriate. <br /> The Division finds MCM's selected RUSLE variables reasonable. MCM's basis for selecting each <br /> variable can be referenced in Appendix G of the Application and the Divisions review of each variable <br /> found MCM's methodology appropriate. <br /> Utah Tract Cover Analysis <br /> Species composition was consistent with the species reported in the application and with the approved <br /> seed mix, with relatively large quantities of. perennial grasses Leymus cinereus (basin wildrye), <br /> Pascopyron smithii (western wheatgrass). The dominant shrubs and perennial forbes comprised <br /> Artemisia tridentate (big sagebrush), Symphoricarpos albus (snowberry),Amelanchier lamarckii <br /> (serviceberry),Festuca saximontana(Rocky Mountain fescue),Astragalus cicer(cicer milkvetch), and <br /> Medicago sativa (Alfalfa). <br /> Noxious C li st weeds such as Bromus tectorum (cheatgrass),Poa bubosa (bulbous bluegrass), and <br /> Cardaria draba(whitetop), a B list species weed Cynoglossum officinale (hound's tongue)were <br /> occasionally observed. These weed species comprise a small set, in both numbers and extent and did <br /> not appear to significantly impact the establishment of the desired vegetation. <br /> Range Site A <br /> Sample adequacy was achieved in both 2014 and 2015. Vegetation data for Range Site A in 2014 showed <br /> a mean allowable first hit cover of 39.4%, and litter cover of 32.7%, exceeding the standard. Vegetation <br /> data for 2015 indicated mean allowable first hit cover of 53.0% and litter cover of 26.9%, exceeding the <br /> Permit Number C1981044 Page 18 of 25 <br />
